Thames barrier park

Photographs by Bo-Kyung in 2008

22.OCT.2008 Thames barrier park

This park was opened in late 2000. It was designed by landscape architect Allain Provost(Groupe Signes) of Paris and architects Patel Taylor of London.
A landscape of the park was modern and artistic to me, with materials such as steel and plain stone wall, moreover, geometric form of the park and details which are shape of plants, and combination of grass and artificial material reminds me French gardens and modern parks in a centre among skyscrapers at once.
The most attractive feature of the park is that Thames flood barrier and the park work well together as a green dock and a nice view, and supply a place for people’s exercise and rest in London.

"The green trench running through the park was intended as a reminder of the site's dockland heritage. It provides a sheltered microclimate for a 'rainbow garden' - strips of coloured plants.
A Pavilion of Remembrance near the River commemorates local people who died in the Second World War.
The most dramatic feature of the park is its view of the Thames Flood Barrier."

It's always on my mind - Landscape & Me (Study skills)

This video is about a project that I have done in Study skills recently. It shows how the project goes well with various methods to develop an idea based on analysis into the final design.(I have used Window movie maker)
I think I could make this with some video clips if I was good at using a camera recording.
But I am happy with this work because I have learned how to arrange many pictures in limited running time and how to use editing tools and programmes:)

Photo montage(The Brentford project)

After survey as a group, I made this to show what happens and exists in Brentford with pictures that I took when I analyzed.

Diagrams (the Rotterdam project)

This is diagrams that I have concluded some issues and information after anlysis.
It shows what kind of things are in the site and happens today.
I think making diagrams is very an essectial process to do a project so I always try to make this hard but there could be no specific issues obviously if I won't think about what I am going to be concentrated on particularly.
So the main point of making diagrams is to think about not only general information but also specific issues in the site.

Photo montage(The rotterdam project)

I have made this as a part of works in Rotterdam project. I took this pictures during the study trip:)
It is very effective to show some emotional and personal experiences in a place.

Moving image(Movement)

I made this image for Study skills(lecture).
It can be useful to show how a place works and what happends in a project site through moving images as a diagram or a perspective drawing in studio work. So I tried to show the movement of people in a flatform.(Practice)+v+//
